- Kanubhai Ashabhai Thakkar, a young boy from Aslali, a town on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, started his entrepreneurial career at an early age of eighteen. Under the guidance of his father and with the help of two partners, Kanubhai started wood cutting business under the name of Umapati Sawmill in 1956 in Ahmedabad. The cut pieces of wood from sawmill were used to make wooden boxes which were eventually supplied in mills and fabric factories of that time. Moving on, under the name of Vasant Timber Mart, he traded in readymade woods, such as sevan and teak wood. Kanubhai travelled the lengths and breaths of India to cities such as Nagpur, Jabalpur, Kerala and Haridwar to acquire the best possible species of wood.

- Splitting away from his partners in 1973, Kanubhai started a new firm under his name called THAKKAR KANUBHAI ASHABHAI. This firm dealt steadily with readymade wood until 1992. In 1992, TKA became the stockiest of Greenlam Laminates and the legacy still continues.

- In the meanwhile, Kanubhai’s elder son, Bharat Thakkar had started a new firm in 1983 under his father’s guidance. The firm was named Shree Ambeshakti Traders. This new generation left the readymade wood business and moved on to Plywood. Staring with Monarch plywood, Shree Ambeshakti Traders offered many well-known brands such as Woodcraft, Migply, Archid, Supreme and Universal to the market

- Finally, in 1999, Shree Ambeshakti Traders decided to provide only Greenply to its dear clients. Today, Kalpesh Thakkar, Kanubhai’s youngest son handles the sole operation of both firms. For over two decades, Thakkar Kanubhai Ashabhai and Shree Ambeshakti traders are proud to have provided their customers with the best interior products in form of Greenply.
